At least five generations of Chilvers lived in Dickleburgh. The earliest recorded is the marriage of Thomas Chilvers to Sarah Brown on 12 October 1784. Samuel John Chilvers is remembered on the Dickleburgh with Langmere WW1 war memorial in the churchyard. He was killed on 25 September 1916 in The Battle of the Somme.
